An IP address is a unique number which distinguishes a website or a server on the Internet, so if you have a dedicated IP, it shall be used only by your Internet sites and shall not be shared with others as it happens with shared web hosting accounts. In case you have your own hosting server, you'll have a dedicated IP, but you may need additional ones for a variety of uses. In case you have an online store, for instance, you shall need an SSL certificate for it, in order to make sure that the payment information which your clients submit shall be encrypted and safe. The same is valid if you have a login form of some kind and you wish the usernames and the passwords that visitors type in to be protected. The SSL certificate requires a dedicated IP address, which should be different from the one that you already have on the machine. You could also need an individual IP for an app such as a VoIP server, or if you need a slightly better functionality for a given site, which may influence its position in search engine results.
Extra Dedicated IPs in Dedicated Servers
All dedicated servers that we offer include three IP addresses by default and you can use them in any way you see fit. If you need even more IPs for any reason, you can add them to your hosting server with a couple of clicks without any limitations as to their number or to the duration for which you will be able to use them. This upgrade comes in increments of three and if you require the IPs right from the start, you can add them to the plan during the signup process, while in the event that it turns out that you need more IPs at some point afterwards, you can order them just as quickly through your billing area and we'll assign them to your dedicated server a couple of minutes later. The dedicated IPs can be renewed with the web server plan on a monthly basis and you can choose if you shall renew all of them or just a few - if you no longer need that many. You may use the IPs both for your own Internet sites and for client hosting accounts - if you're using the dedicated server as an Internet hosting reseller platform.
